Men - Summary of Rules for Knockout Competitions
After a number of years where deadlines have been extended and finals have been played late, the Committee has decided to impose more discipline on Knockout competitions, giving the Competition Secretary detailed policy to observe.
- If you are a paid-up Club member with a valid handicap and have paid your KO entry fee on time then you are eligible to play.
- If your handicap is 25 or more, you can still play but you must play off 24.
- Matches should be played off the medal (white) tees
- If you win a match you must update the Drawsheet immediately and note down the winning margin.
- Substitution of players is allowed only in very limited circumstances (see Rule 4)
- Other issues 'discussed' in the detailed rules include bad weather, late arrival at the tee, handicaps etc.
If it is not possible to agree a date & time for a match, a formal process for resolving the issue is described in detail in the Rules and is summarised here:
- Competition rounds will coincide with calendar months, eg. R1 in April, R2 in May etc.
- The responsibilities of a player in arranging a match will differ depending on whether the player is drawn Top or Bottom in the tie.
- The following table showing the days in a 30-day month and subsequent explanation, describes these responsibilities:

 |
TOP to contact BOTTOM and offer 3 dates |
 |
BOTTOM to select a date, choose & book tee time and let TOP know |
